My Soul to Take
by Ashley Wilson
Rating: 4.75/5
Well I have to admit I was very disappointed that the synopsis told pretty much the whole story.
Nonetheless, I did enjoy reading it. Only a couple of typos and it was always pretty interesting.
I was caught off guard by the author using a geriatric fellow as the protagonist, and I truly appreciated the realistic way the guy went about his business. Made it very believable to me, I could totally see it happening, which is a big plus in my book.
The story had suspense, humour, the central character is not someone you are used to, authors don’t generally use older people as anything other than support characters. So within the limitations of its size, I think it well deserves the 5 stars. I’d just alter the synopsis, not make it as detailed. Maybe something that would make the potential reader wonder how a person that age would react witnessing a shocking event, doesn’t even have to mention it’s a murder. Less is more :)
