I just noticed my WordPress reader changed:
Now I have to admit the sleek lines are interesting, as well as the tags being clearly shown and the fact it now displays all the pictures in a post by thumbnails, with a link to the full gallery:
However, I do not like the estimate time at all. Everyone reads at a different pace! What is up with that?? I feel really slow now…
I truly miss the X words left.
What do you think of these changes?
I’m not at all a fan of the new reader! I don’t like that when I click the post, it doesn’t take me to the blogger’s actual blog. It just slides open into a plain white background with their full post. I liked being able to go to their blog. I felt like it was easier that way.

Yes, I was going to say this same thing.

Yes! I keep accidentally closing out the window because I forget that it doesn’t open in a new tab. I’m really not into the changes they have made. It’s also not as easy to see who posted it.

That’s true! It’s a lot harder to really locate who is posting. Like you have to search to find the little name every time! :( Maybe if enough people express how much they hate it, it’ll go back to how it was before..haha.

I also just found out if you click the arrow to go back it puts you back at the top of the feed so you have to scroll all the way down to where you left off! So dumb lol

Oh yeah, I had noticed that too, very silly indeed… Waste of time.

Hmm good point, they probably won’t know how we feel if we don’t actually go to them. Does anyone know of a good option to do that?

True, I forgot about that. I wish they would give us the option to switch back, like they did with the old Stats page.

I don’t like it either. I wanna know how many words the blog entry has… :/ But that put aside, when going through my reader I like to open every new entry into a tab. I use strg plus a mouse click to do that. This doesn’t function anymore; I just open the entry in the current tab.

I always do that as well, right click and open in new tab. I like reading the entire post. It still works here, maybe we do it differently?

That could be the case. Or maybe it’s just a sometimes there and sometimes not ‘Error’? Hopefully it gets fixed. I’m a creature of habit…

Me too, and it served my needs perfectly so I don’t get why change it. Not like it brings anything amazing to the table that is better than the previous one…

Because I still need a few navigation tutorials, I’m still loyal to the previous WP reader.

Also, when I read my stats, does WordPress include the times people look at my post but don’t go directly to my site?

Why, oh why ndo software writers have a continual need to meddle and update something that’s working perfectly satisfactorily, and often introduce glitches, hangups and other unwanted things at the same time? I agree with most people who say the previous reader was fine and let you go straight to the original post if you wanted to.

Good question!
I really hope they will take people’s feedback into account…

Are you allergic to changes as well? :)

I’ve been right clicking and opening in a new tab. Overall I like the look, it feels clean. But I do miss the word count vs time to read.

You bet. I hope they take the users feedback into account and bring it back!

I’m having terrible trouble with it. I hate it. It’s not opening in a new tab, the comment space on some blogs is only one line, The “like” star is in a strange place. Some blog site come up normally, others are bizarre (based on settings that no longer work?). Most of the post no longer show the images. I feel like I’m missing posts that I would normally open. UGH. Thanks for letting me vent :-)

Oh go right ahead! I am totally with you. It sucks >.< I wish they would change it back already.

I felt bad about ranting, but it seems I’m not the only one. It’s going to take some getting used to. Thanks for commiserating :-)

Girl, please do feel free to rant! I love it when people vent like that. It often makes me realize other people feel the same way I do, and so we all feel better in the end ;)
